Stumbled upon a Harry Potter marathon and was struck by the conversation between Harry and Dumbledore in the liminal space at the end of Deathly Hollows (Part II)

"Do not pity the dead...pity the living, and above all - all those who live without love"

- Albus Dumbledore

"Professor is this all real or is it just happening inside my head?" - Harry Potter

"Of course it's happening inside your head Harry, why should that mean it's not real?" - Albus Dumbledore

"It's cheaper to keep her. Where's my t.v. show?" S.T.A.

"Hey! I wanna waste some money on me!" T.B.

as I was taking db's recommended bike ride up skyline, my chain unexpectedly broke under the strain. Two cars and 2 bicyclists separately stopped to ask me if I was ok.

This extending of kindness and compassion lifted my walking spirit but my favorite response had to be the older gentleman driving an electric car, who after asking if I was ok and hearing that my chain was broken stated, "I'd like to help but I'm a stranger" to which I replied with a smile - "Thank you very much for stopping, I am going to walk the rest of the way, I will be fine, thanks!"

As he drove away I laughed deeply at his response and my soul replied "you have helped me, friend"

“We should do away with the absolutely specious notion that everybody has to earn a living. It is a fact today that one in ten thousand of us can make a technological breakthrough capable of supporting all the rest. The youth of today are absolutely right in recognizing this nonsense of earning a living. We keep inventing jobs because of this false idea that everybody has to be employed at some kind of drudgery because, according to Malthusian Darwinian theory he must justify his right to exist. So we have inspectors of inspectors and people making instruments for inspectors to inspect inspectors. The true business of people should be to go back to school and think about whatever it was they were thinking about before somebody came along and told them they had to earn a living.”

- Richard Buckminister Fuller

“Never forget that you are one of a kind. Never forget that if there weren't any need for you in all your uniqueness to be on this earth, you wouldn't be here in the first place. And never forget, no matter how overwhelming life's challenges and problems seem to be, that one person can make a difference in the world. In fact, it is always because of one person that all the changes that matter in the world come about. So be that one person. ”

- Richard Buckminster Fuller

OOAK = one of a kind

“When I see a pregnant woman, in the ugliness and harshness of this world, I think that in order to make the decision to bring a child in this world, she has probably forgiven humanity for all its sins, for all its cruelty, for all its crimes against the planet and ultimately against itself.”
